Praying Manties are one of the most liked among insects. With their wide range of colors, interesting shape, and unique features, it’s really no wonder why!

An interesting feature of Praying Mantises is that they don't have lungs because their body is full of pores that absorb oxygen directly, completely skipping the breathing step! Another interesting fact about these insects is that they only have one ear! In the past, scientists thought that praying mantises were deaf because they couldn’t find typical ear structures on a mantis’ body. One of their most notable features is their two main compound eyes, which are much larger than a regular insect’s eyes.

However, most people don't know that they actually have 5 eyes! They have their two large, visible ones, and three at the top of their head. This gives them nearly 360 degree vision! Just like praying mantises have special eyes to help see, God helps us to see the sin in our lives so that we can get rid of it, all we have to do is ask! “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” -Psalm 139:23-24
