🪽Moths!🪽
Moths are often thought as more of pests than helpers like their butterfly cousins, but did you know moths pollinate more than both bees and butterflies? They visit more of a variety of plants than butterflies do!
And while most picture these insects as dull gray and brown, they can also be quite visually stunning! The Luna moth is a rather large moth, having a wingspan of five inches, but they definitely have wings to show off! These fuzzy giant silk moths have vibrant green wings that are a rather unique shape.
And if you thought a five inch moth was huge, the White Witch Moth has a wingspan of 12 inches! That’s a foot-wide moth! On the other hand, the Stigmella maya has a wingspan of 1.2 millimetres!! What tiny creatures!
God gave Moths the special ability to look like less palatable creatures, like wasps, tarantulas, and praying mantis! God loves all his creations, and if he put so much effort and love into simple, small moths, how much more does he love us, made in his image?
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” - Psalm 139:14
