🌱Long lives!🌱

The average human lifespan is 72 years, but did you know that it's a surprisingly short amount of time compared to other animals?
For example, the greenland shark is found in North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, and has very few predators. That, and the fact it lives in cold, dark waters, which slows its metabolism and, on extension, slows the aging process, allows them to live at least 250 years, though many have been found to live up to 500!

The Immortal Jellyfish, living up to its name, can be immortal in an ideal environment! These jellyfish use a process called Transdifferation to revert their cells into that of a young, immature jellyfish, essentially reversing any aging they might have gone through. However, these jellies aren’t immune to death, and disease and predators keep them from being immortal.

Another good example of a long living thing is the Glass Sponge. While these sponges are more plant-like than animal-like, they most certainly do deserve a spot on this article, seeing as they can live for thousands of years, with scientists estimating their lifespan being more than 15,000 years.

While we may think this is a lot of time to live, it was originally God’s plan to let us live eternity which we will get to do when he comes back!

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:1-3)
