🐝Bees!🐝

Everybody knows what bees are, and everybody knows what hard workers they are. However, despite how appreciated the bee is, most know surprisingly little about them.

Maybe you’ve heard the term “the bee’s knees’ to describe something cool before, but bees actually don’t have knees! Though they do have jointed legs, they don’t have kneecaps, nor anything that resembles kneecaps, therefore they cannot be classified as knees!

Another interesting fact is that only female bees can sting! Male bees (Drones) do not have a stinger, and only take up 10-15% of their hive (roughly one male bee per 100 female bees born!). 

And speaking of stingers, a queen bee can sting multiple times in her life, as her stinger is smooth, not barbed like other bees, and does not get pulled out when she stings.

We all enjoy a nice electric heater during the winter, but imagine if your job was being the heater? Some bees have the designated job of being a ‘heater bees’ during the cold months, in an effort to keep the beehive at an ideal 95 degrees! They do so by vibrating their bodies rapidly, which produces a small amount of heat. But that small amount of heat adds up!

Bees are hard workers, and they spend their whole lives working. Similarly, Jesus asks us to work hard to spread the gospel as long as we are able to!

”Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” - Matthew 28:19-20
