Mission for Puerto Seguro Safe Harbor
Hi there!
This holiday season, we want to make a difference for the Puerto Seguro Safe Harbor in Socorro, New Mexico.
The Puerto Seguro is a non-profit, day-shelter that provides a variety of services for homeless and low-income people in Socorro and surrounding areas.
They are 90% donation based, and unfortunately their largest donors are unable to continue their funding.
This season, we have a mission to bring awareness to the community and encourage steady, monetary donations. We are also organizing a gift-drive for this coming Christmas. Last year they gave 122 gifts, but fell short, as there were other’s that didn’t get the chance to receive a gift.
Unfortunately, many of these people are born into poverty and are unable to get along in life due to the increase of prices in basic necessities, so having the opportunity to receive a gift during the holiday season.
Many of the people that go to the Puerto Seguro for aid are women and children.
